The door

Still open

Keep looking
A watercolor night sky over a dark garden ridge, with one small gold point of light far away.

What reaches awareness?

These questions are for later looking. No one here pretends the hardest part is solved.

We know
Attention can select. Some visible things can be missed. The eye has a place that cannot catch light.
The evidence suggests
Noticing is not the same as every process the visual system can run. Something can affect a later guess before you can name it.
Still open
Is attention the same as consciousness? What is it like, from the inside, to see? Can two people have the same experience of one room?
We do not know yet
A complete map of the eye would still leave the question of what seeing is like from the inside. An honest page can stop here.

What happens when you notice that you are noticing?
